CC Returns Home To Host McMurry and Schreiner

Colorado College looks to extend its winning streak to seven-straight as it hosts McMurry University on Friday, Jan 23, at 7:30 p.m. MT and Schreiner University on Sunday, Jan. 25 at 3 p.m. MT.

CC (11-4, 6-0 SCAC) is unbeaten in SCAC play and is currently tied for first place in the Gold Division.

Last Time Out

The Tigers swept an Arkansas road trip last week against Hendrix College (61-58) and the University of the Ozarks (71-51).

On Friday against the Warriors, CC shot 36.2 percent from the field and held Hendrix to 39.6 percent, while forcing 27 turnovers and turning them into a 27–17 advantage in points off miscues. The Tigers also held edges in fast-break points (7–3) and points in the paint (22–20) in a game that featured eight lead changes and five ties.

Senior Kayla Mackel led CC with 21 points, hitting four three-pointers and adding three steals.

Two days later, against the Eagles, freshman Rayna Welsch scored a career-high 26 points on 10-of-14 shooting and went 6-for-7 at the free-throw line to pace CC, which shot 46.0 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from three-point range.

Defensively, the Tigers limited Ozarks to 32.7 percent shooting for the game and just 25.0 percent in the opening quarter. CC recorded nine steals and five blocks, disrupting the Eagles' offensive rhythm throughout.

Tiger Tails

CC's six-game win streak is the longest since the 12-game win streak last season. The Tigers have won 18-straight SCAC regular-season games dating back to Jan. 17, 2025. Their last conference loss was to Texas Lutheran on Jan. 12, 2025.

Welsch leads the team this season with 14 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.

Mackel recently moved into fourth place in program history with 149 career three-pointers. She is 30 behind former teammate Audrey Bayston, who is third with 179 three-pointers.

Scouting The Opposition

McMurry enters Friday with an 11-3 record and is 5-1 in conference play. The War Hawks split last weekend, with a victory over Concordia (TX) and a loss to Texas Lutheran.

Senior Helana Chadwick leads the team and the entire conference with 22.9 ppg. Senior Jordan Bravo leads the SCAC with 44 made three-pointers and is third on the team with 13.7 ppg.

Schreiner is 3-12 (2-4 SCAC) and will face St. Thomas (TX) in Houston on Friday before traveling up to Colorado Springs. The Mountaineers are led by Brie Sosa with 12.3 points per game.
