Colorado College earned sole possession of first place in the SCAC Gold Division with a 62-50 victory over Texas Lutheran on Saturday night in Seguin, Texas.
Both teams entered the matchup unbeaten in conference play, but CC (15-4, 10-0) delivered a decisive second quarter to separate and never allowed Texas Lutheran to recover. The win marked the first victory at TLU in head coach

The Tigers led 13-12 after a tightly contested first quarter, then flipped the game in the second. CC poured in 24 points in the period, which was the highest-scoring quarter of the evening, while holding the Bulldogs to just six. A 20-point run during the stretch turned a one-point game into a commanding 37-18 halftime advantage.
CC shot 45 percent in the first half and held Texas Lutheran to 28 percent for the game. The Tigers built their lead to as many as 20 midways through the third quarter.
Texas Lutheran responded with a 17-point third quarter to trim the margin, but CC maintained control entering the fourth with a 49-35 lead. The Tigers were steady down the stretch, closing out the 12-point win.
Kayla Mackel led all scorers with 29 points on 10-for-17 shooting, including 5-for-8 from three-point range, and added six rebounds and four assists.
Rayna Welsch finished with 12 points and nine rebounds, while
Naiya Kurnik grabbed nine boards to help CC secure a 45-27 advantage on the glass.
CC led for more than 30 minutes of game time and never trailed after the early stages of the first quarter.
Texas Lutheran (13-5, 8-1) was paced by Lauren Sansano with 18 points.
