Colorado College fell to McMurry, 54-37, on Friday evening at Kimbrell Arena.
CC (15-5, 10-1) struggled offensively from the outset, shooting 25.0 percent (15-60) from the field and 0-for-21 from three-point range. McMurry (14-5, 8-2) used a decisive second and third quarter to pull away.
The Tigers trailed just 7-6 after the first quarter, but McMurry seized control in the second. The War Hawks outscored CC 19-10 in the period to build a 26-16 halftime advantage.
McMurry delivered the knockout stretch in the third quarter, shooting 52.9 percent (9-17) while holding CC to 4-of-17 shooting. The War Hawks outscored the Tigers 22-9 in the frame and extended the margin to as many as 23 points late in the quarter.
CC found more rhythm in the fourth, shooting 6-of-17, but the deficit proved too large to overcome.
Senior Kayla Mackel led CC with nine points and three rebounds. Payton Gates added 10 points on 5-of-7 shooting off the bench. Andie Will contributed six points, while Avery Johnson pulled down eight rebounds.
McMurry shot 34.4 percent (21-61) from the field and made six three-pointers. The War Hawks also held a 49-36 advantage on the glass, including a 13-9 edge on the offensive boards.
Points in the paint were even at 26-26, but McMurry capitalized on second-chance opportunities (9-3) and controlled the game for more than 31 minutes.
