CC Prepares To Host Tornados & Bulldogs

Colorado College returns home this weekend for a pivotal pair of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Gold Division matchups, hosting Concordia (TX) on Friday, Feb. 13 at 7:30 p.m. MT before welcoming Texas Lutheran on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. MT. The Tigers enter the weekend tied atop the Gold Division standings at 11–1 in conference play, alongside Texas Lutheran.

Last Time Out
The Tigers earned a 72-57 victory over Schreiner on Feb. 8 at Stephens Family Arena. CC led 19-6 after the first quarter and shot 50.8 percent (30-59) from the field in the win. Naiya Kurnik posted 13 points and seven rebounds, Kayla Mackel added 12 points and four assists, and Isa Nelson contributed 10 points and five assists. Colorado College held a 37-30 rebounding advantage.

At the Helm
Through 21 games, CC is 16-5 overall and averaging 64.0 points per contest while allowing 56.8. The Tigers are shooting 40.4 percent from the field and 74.6 percent at the free-throw line while holding opponents to 34.8 percent shooting. Mackel leads Colorado College at 15.5 points per game, while Welsch averages 12.9 points and 6.3 rebounds per contest and is shooting 56.7 percent from the field. Scouting the Opposition
Concordia (TX) enters Friday's game 7-14 overall and 4-8 in conference play. The Tornados average 64.0 points per game while allowing 69.0 and shoot 37.8 percent from the field and 30.1 percent from three-point range. Shanna Brown leads Concordia at 16.4 points and 8.0 rebounds per game while shooting 48.4 percent from the field. Taysie Trejo adds 12.6 points per contest with 31 made three-pointers, and Katelyn Tietjen averages 8.3 points per game.

Texas Lutheran, tied with CC at 11-1 in conference play and receiving votes in the WBCA Top 25 national poll, averages 72.1 points per contest while allowing 59.4. The Bulldogs shoot 40.4 percent from the field and 30.7 percent from three-point range and average 43.1 rebounds per game. Lauren Sansano leads TLU at 14.0 points per game. Davi'Yanna Jones contributes 12.2 points and 6.3 rebounds per contest while shooting 54.5 percent from the field, and Sarahi Jones averages 11.4 points and 7.9 rebounds.
