Tornados Sneak Past Tigers

Colorado College dropped a back-and-forth 95-92 decision to Concordia (TX) on Friday evening at Reid Arena.

The game featured nine lead changes and eight ties. Concordia (18-3, 11-1) held the lead for 23 minutes, while CC (9-13, 7-6) spent just over 12 minutes in front.

CC built early momentum behind efficient shooting, opening the game on a 9-2 run and later using a 6-0 burst to take a 32-31 lead midway through the first half. The Tigers continued to trade baskets with Concordia down the stretch and carried a slim 45-44 advantage into halftime.

The second half followed a similar script. CC pushed its largest lead to nine points at the 16:19 mark after back-to-back three-pointers from Ryan Kranz and Gavin Carter. Concordia answered immediately, stringing together a series of second-chance baskets and turnovers to erase the deficit.

The teams exchanged leads again before Concordia used a 10-2 run midway through the half to create separation. CC fought back behind strong play in transition and inside scoring to cut the deficit to two multiple times in the final minutes but could not regain the lead.

Russell MacFarlane led the Tigers with 18 points on 9-of-12 shooting, while Terrion Benson added 18 points off the bench. Ryan Kranz finished with 14 points, and Asher Nofziger recorded nine points and a game-high 10 rebounds.

Gavin Carter dished out a career-high 11 assists in the contest, moving into 10th place on Colorado College's all-time career assists list with 263, the 10th-most in program history.

CC shot 53.6 percent (37-69) from the field and held a 56-48 advantage in points in the paint. The Tigers also dominated fast-break scoring, 36-9.

Concordia outrebounded CC 38-37 and scoring 20 second-chance points. Percy Green led all scorers with 24 points, and Joey Ramirez added 20.

The Tigers return to the court Sunday at noon MT against Texas Lutheran.
