Colorado College closed out the regular season in dominant fashion Saturday afternoon, defeating LeTourneau, 82–53, on Senior Day inside Reid Arena to secure its 20th win of the season.
With the victory, CC (20-5, 15-1 SCAC) recorded its third straight 20-win season — a milestone the Tigers had not achieved since the early 1980s.
CC set the tone early, racing to a 20-5 lead after the opening quarter behind strong shooting and defensive pressure. The Tigers extended the margin to 42-21 by halftime and never looked back, controlling the game on both ends of the floor.
Freshman Iliana Greene led CC with a career-high 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting, including three three-pointers. Senior Kayla Mackel added 12 points and five rebounds, while senior Avery Johnson anchored the interior with six points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
Senior Andie Will contributed four points and three steals, and freshman Rayna Welsch added four points, five rebounds, and three assists. Junior Naiya Kurnik finished with eight points and seven rebounds, while junior Isa Nelson added seven points.
CC controlled the game in every phase statistically. The Tigers shot 48 percent from the field while limiting LeTourneau to just 33 percent shooting. The Tigers also dominated the glass with a 48-24 rebounding advantage, including a 33-15 edge on the defensive boards.
The Tigers' ball movement fueled the offense, finishing with 19 assists on 31 made field goals, while their defensive pressure forced 15 turnovers and held the Yellow Jackets to just four made three-pointers.
CC will get a first-round bye in the SCAC Tournament next weekend in Conway, Arkansas as the No. 1 seed in the Gold Division. The Tigers will play the winner of the Hendrix and McMurry matchup on Saturday at 4 p.m MT.
