Senior Kayla Mackel will represent Colorado College on the national stage after being selected to compete in the WBCA Division III Collegiate All-Star Game as a member of Team Shibles.
The WBCA All-Star Game, held in conjunction with the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship weekend, will take place at 1 p.m. ET on Saturday, March 21, at the Cregger Center on the campus of Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia, prior to the national championship game.
Mackel is one of 20 senior student-athletes selected from across the country to participate in the event, with the group split into two 10-player teams, Team Shibles and Team Crutchfield. The teams are selected by a committee of WBCA member head coaches.
Team Shibles will be coached by former Bowdoin head coach Adrienne Shibles, while Team Crutchfield will be led by former Emory & Henry head coach Anne Crutchfield.
Mackel adds the All-Star selection to an already decorated senior season in which she earned D3hoops.com All-Region Second Team and First Team All-SCAC honors. She led the Tigers in scoring with 14.8 points per game, totaling 325 points while shooting .413 from the field and .845 from the free throw line. She also knocked down a team-high 42 three-pointers and contributed 90 rebounds, 41 assists, 31 steals and 26 blocks.
During the season, Mackel surpassed 1,000 career points, becoming the 17th player in program history to reach the milestone. She also finished her career ranked fourth in Colorado College history with 171 three-pointers made.
