Smeal Smashes Javelin Record at CSU-Pueblo Meet

Oliver Smeal smashed his own school record in the men's javelin Friday afternoon as the Colorado College track & field teams competed on the first day of the Dr. Dan Caprioglio Early Bird Meet in Pueblo, Colo.
 
Smeal won the meet, consisting of several Division I and II athletes, with a toss of 209' 7", breaking his previous record of 181' 9", and currently the best throw in Division III this spring.
 
Easton Capser also participated in the javelin, finishing 12th with a personal-best heave of 149' 7", while Keely Lueckeman placed 15th in the women's javelin with a throw of 112' 2".
 
Jonah Greenberg was the only Tiger to compete on Friday, placing seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 44' 7.5"
 
The meet continues on Saturday, March 21, beginning at 8 a.m., on the campus of CSU-Pueblo.
