No. 24 Tigers Rout Hamline

No. 24 Colorado College rolled to a dominant 19-3 victory over Hamline University on Saturday afternoon, highlighted by a career day from freshman Elsa Greene.

Greene led the Tigers with a career-high four goals, while junior Charlotte Iler added four goals and three assists for a game-high seven points. Freshman Sofia Niklaus and freshman Beatrix Nace each recorded hat tricks with three goals apiece as CC improved to 7-3 overall and remained unbeaten in conference play.

CC wasted no time taking control, scoring the first eight goals of the game and building an 8-1 lead by the end of the first quarter. Niklaus and senior Ella Roe sparked the early run, while Greene and Iler each scored twice during the opening frame.

The Tigers continued to dominate in the second quarter, outscoring Hamline 5-0 to take a commanding 13-1 lead into halftime. Iler added two more goals in the period, while Greene, Niklaus, and senior Grace Bean also found the back of the net.

CC finished with 19 goals on 43 shots, including 30 shots on goal, while controlling possession throughout the contest. The Tigers were a perfect 9-for-9 on clears and won 17 draw controls.

Defensively, CC held Hamline to just 10 total shots and one goal over the first three quarters. Niklaus led the defensive effort with a game-high five caused turnovers, while the Tigers forced 23 turnovers and held a 21-10 advantage in ground balls.

Senior Cassidy Schnaufer earned the win in goal with two saves in the first half, while freshman Natalie Bernstein added two saves in the second half.

CC had nine different goal scorers in the win. 

The Tigers will continue its road trip to UW-La Crosse on Friday, April 3 in Wisconsin.
