Colorado College controlled the game from the opening draw Thursday afternoon, defeating Kenyon College, 13-5, at Washburn Field.
The Tigers improved to 2-0 on the season after jumping out to an early lead and maintaining control throughout the contest.
Junior Charlotte Iler led the Tigers' offense with seven points on five goals and two assists. Through the first two games of the season, Iler has totaled 14 points.
CC opened the game with four unanswered goals in the first quarter. Iler scored twice during the early surge, while junior Meilani Molina and freshman Maddie Jenks also found the back of the net to give the Tigers a 4-0 lead after the opening period.
The Tigers continued to build momentum in the second quarter, adding three more goals to extend the lead to 7-0 at halftime. Iler opened the scoring in the quarter before freshman Elsa Greene and senior Grace Bean each added goals.
Kenyon broke through early in the third quarter, but CC responded quickly. Iler scored twice more in the period, while Jenks and freshman Beatrix Nace each added goals to push the advantage to 11-1 entering the fourth quarter.
Greene and junior Sofia Mancino added fourth-quarter goals as the Tigers secured the 13-5 victory.
Colorado College outshot Kenyon 25-18 and held a 26-21 advantage in ground balls while successfully clearing 17-of-18 attempts.
Greene finished with three points on two goals and an assist, while Jenks recorded two goals. Nace added a goal and an assist, and sophomore Grace Weber contributed two assists.
Senior Cassidy Schnaufer earned the win in goal with eight saves.
