Tigers Continue WIAC Action vs. Augsburg

The Colorado College women's lacrosse team continues WIAC play this weekend with a home game against Augsburg on Saturday, April 11, at Washburn Field, beginning at 10 a.m.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Colorado College, receiving votes in the latest IWLCA poll and No. 29 in the NPI, defeated UW-La Crosse, 15-4, and UW-Stout, 21-0, improving to 8-3 overall and 4-0 in the WIAC.
 
CC wasted no time taking control against UW-La Crosse, scoring six goals in the opening quarter and holding the Eagles scoreless for the first 20 minutes of play. Junior Charlotte Iler led the Tigers with four goals, while freshman Elsa Greene added three goals, including a pair in the fourth quarter. Greene now has seven goals in the last two games. 
 
The Tigers built a commanding 10-0 lead midway through the second quarter behind a balanced offensive attack that saw eight different goal scorers find the back of the net. Freshman Beatrix Nace, senior Grace Bean, and junior Oliv Janerico each scored during the second frame to help CC take a 10-1 advantage into halftime.
 
Freshman Maddie Jenks turned in a strong all-around performance with two goals and two assists, while senior Ella Roe dished out two assists to pace the offense. CC finished with 20 points on 15 goals and five assists.
 
The Tigers showcased its offensive strength with three player-up goals and maintained possession with 28 ground balls, while the defense held UW-Stout to just five shots.
 
A trio of Tigers, Iler, Greene and Sofia Mancino led the way with three goals apiece, while Nace (1g,3a) and Jenks (2g,2a) each produced a four-point outing.  
 
The Tigers took command early, jumping out to an 8-0 lead after the first quarter, then scored six more times in the second. Iler, Mancino and Greene each scored twice in the first 15 minutes, while six different Tigers found the net in the second period.
 
AT THE HELM
CC enters the weekend at the top of the WIAC with a 4-0 league record, averaging 13.3 goals per game while allowing 8.4 per contest. The Tigers are shooting .461 as a team and have recorded 146 goals and 64 assists through 11 games.
 
Charlotte Iler leads the Tigers with 45 points on 35 goals and 10 assists, while Sofia Mancino adds 27 points on 22 goals and five assists. Elsa Greene has contributed 24 points on 20 goals and four assists, and sophomore Grace Weber leads the team with 14 assists to go along with three goals for 17 points.
 
Defensively, Lydia Desrochers leads the Tigers with 14 caused turnovers, while Mancino has added 35 draw controls to help anchor possession. The Tigers have totaled 110 caused turnovers and 235 ground balls as a team.
 
In goal, senior Cassidy Schnaufer has started all 11 games, posting a 9.08 goals-against average with 65 saves.
 
SCOUTING AUGSBURG
Augsburg enters the weekend with an 0-7 overall record and 0-3 mark in the WIAC.
 
Breya Sawyer leads the team with 11 points on nine goals and two assists, while Isabella Kohout has six points on five goals and one assist.
 
In goal, Nichole Schuster has started all six games, producing a 19.13 goals-against average and 50 saves.

Colorado College travels to the Midwest next weekend for games at 21st-ranked University of Chicago on Thursday, April 16, at 5 p.m. (CT), and UW-Stevens Point on Saturday, April 18, beginning at 1 p.m. (CT).
