The No. 19 Colorado College women's tennis team remained perfect in the SCAC Saturday afternoon with a 7-0 victory over the University of St. Thomas on Senior Day at Lifetime Fitness in Colorado Springs.
The Tigers (14-3, 7-0 SCAC) lost just five games in sweeping the three doubles matches for an early 1-0 lead.
Lucia Moravek and
Aspen Young defeated Lucia Rodriguez and Mariel Herrera in the No. 1 match, 6-3, while
Ally Lowe and
Kala Komanduri downed Aimee Tran and Adriana Iturralde at No. 2, 6-1.
Lindsay Popeo and
Abby Wilson beat Nataly Velasco and Ella Mullins, 6-1, at the No. 3 spot.
CC then captured all six singles matches in straight sets. Lowe put CC up 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-0, victory over Mullins at No. 2, while Young dominated Rodriguez, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 1. Komanduri clinched the team match with a 6-0, 6-2, win over Herrera at No. 3.
Moravek downed Velasco, 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 4 spot,
Avery Hickman beat Iturralde, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 5 and
Lindsay Popeo won the No. 6 match, 6-1, 6-2, over Marlie McArthur.
Popeo and Wilson were honored in a pre-match senior ceremony.
The Tigers return to action on Sunday, April 12, against LeTourneau University at Lifetime Fitness, beginning at 8 a.m.
