Tigers Rout Rhodes in Second Round of NCAA Tournament

Charlotte Iler led all players with 11 points and five Colorado College women's lacrosse players had multiple goals to lead the Tigers to a 20-7 victory over Rhodes College in the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament Sunday afternoon at Washburn Field.

Iler scored five goals and added six assists, including a helper on each of CC's last four goals, to send the Tigers (16-3) to the Round of 16 for the second time in the last three years.

Elsa Greene also scored five goals, a career-high, while Maddie Jenks added three.

Iler scored the first goal less than two minutes into the contest, but Rhodes' Maddie Bavier tied it at the 10:46 mark. The Tigers pulled away, scoring the next five goals, including three by Greene, and CC held a 6-2 lead after 15 minutes.

The second quarter was much of the same as CC outscored the Lynx, 7-2, with Iler and Jenks each putting home two goals, for a 13-4 halftime advantage and the Tigers never looked back.

Greene was all over the field on Sunday as she collected six draw controls, caused a turnover and had one ground ball. Sofia Mancino scored twice and added four draw controls and Grace Weber added a pair of goals.

The Tigers outshot Rhodes, 32-21 in total shots and 28-15 in shots on goal. Goaltender Cassidy Schnaufer had eight saves for her 50th career win before giving way to Natalie Bernstein for the final four minutes. Annabelle Kinzel had eight saves for Rhodes (15-4).

"We were dialed in right after our selection and today we stuck to the plan and executed," head coach AJ Johnson said. "I am so proud of how everyone that stepped on the field performed and dialed in and did their job. This was a complete team win and we are excited for next weekend."

Colorado College will face Williams College in the Round of 16 on Saturday, May 16, at Tufts University, beginning at 1:30 p.m. (ET)..
