Tigers battle East Carolina to scoreless draw

Hulyo's seven saves preserves tie for CC

Freshman goalkeeper Caitlin Hulyo stopped all seven shots she faced on Friday, posting her second career shutout as Colorado College played Conference USA-leading East Carolina University to a 0-0 tie in Greenville, N.C.

CC, which entered the match tied for second in the C-USA standings, now is 10-4-2 overall and 4-2-1 in league play. East Carolina, which remained undefeated in the conference at 5-0-2, is 10-3-2 overall.

The Tigers stayed even with ECU throughout Friday's double-overtime marathon, finishing with 11 shots overall compared to the Pirates' 12. Both teams had a couple of excellent scoring chances, but Hulyo and East Carolina's Amber Campbell were unbeatable in net.

“It was a very competitive game,” said head coach Geoff Bennett. “A tie probably is a fitting result at the end of the day, especially considering how hard both teams played. A win would have been awesome, but we're happy with the tie on the road.”

Kelly LaVoie led Colorado College with three shots, including one on goal. Campbell finished with five saves for the Pirates.
