Ohlsen, Tigers no match for Stormy Petrels

Despite another strong performance from sophomore forward Brady Ohlsen, Colorado College dropped a 75-58 decision at Oglethorpe University on Friday night in Atlanta, Ga.

Ohlsen scored a team-high 17 points, reaching double figures for the 13th time in 16 games. He also pulled down seven rebounds to lead CC for the 14th time this season.

The Tigers took their only lead of the game when Jeremiah Waters drained a three pointer 1:49 into the game, but the Stormy Petrels took the lead for good when David Allison scored the first of six consecutive points to give Oglethorpe an 8-5 lead.

CC trailed 11-7 after Nick Rose scored on a short jumper in the lane with 13:43 to play, but the Stormy Petrels broke the game open with a 24-11 run to take a 17-point lead with 4:42 remaining in the first half.

Down 40-25 at the break, Colorado College cut its deficit to 11 points when Jarrell Sweet turned one of his three steals into a layup with 15:10 to go. Oglethorpe answered with seven consecutive points to build a 53-35 advantage and the Tigers were never able to get closer than 14 points.

Joe Kennedy led OU with a game-high 21 points, while Allison finished with 20. Todd Ward had 10 points and 14 rebounds.

Rose finished with 13 points for CC.

The Tigers dropped to 3-15 overall and 2-7 in the East Division of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. Despite the setback, CC is still in contention for one of eight spots in the upcoming SCAC Tournament. Oglethorpe improved to 13-5 overall and 6-3 in conference play.

Colorado College will shoot for its first road victory since the 2006-07 season when the Tigers play a must-win game on Sunday at Sewanee: The University of the South.
