Kicking off a stretch drive that features five consecutive matches at home, Colorado College shoots to remain in the hunt for a Conference USA regular-season title with two key outings at Stewart Field this weekend.
The Tigers, currently one game out of the C-USA lead, play host to East Carolina University on Friday and Marshall University on Sunday. Both games are scheduled to start at 2 p.m. (MT).
CC, 8-5-1 overall, takes a 4-2 conference mark into Friday's contest with East Carolina. The Tigers split a pair of league decisions last week, earning a 2-0 victory at Southern Miss on Friday before losing 4-1 at the University of Central Florida on Sunday. They enter this week's action in a four-way tie for second place.
ECU, 8-4-2 overall and 3-3 in league play, also split on the road last week. The Pirates, currently tied for seventh place, won 1-0 at Tulsa on Friday but fell by a 2-1 count at Southern Methodist on Sunday. Marshall, 11-3 overall and also 4-2 in the conference, beat SMU 1-0 on Friday before losing 4-1 at Tulsa on Sunday.
Colorado College and East Carolina have met four times before, with the Pirates owning a 2-1-1 advantage after a 2-1 overtime victory in last year's Conference USA semifinals. The teams played to a scoreless deadlock in Greenville, N.C., earlier during the 2008 season, and a year earlier, CC prevailed 2-1 in the only previous encounter at Stewart Field. The Tigers are 3-0 all-time against Marshall, including a 3-1 triumph in Huntington, W. Va., last October.
