Tigers split two matches at SCAC Tournament

Colorado College split two matches on the opening day of the 2009 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament, sweeping Oglethorpe University in its first match before dropping a 6-3 decision to second-seeded Trinity University in the second round. 

In the victory over Oglethorpe, the Tigers won all three doubles matches for the fifth time this season. In fact, every time CC has swept the doubles points this season it has gone on to win the match 9-0.

Deanna Thirkell and Britt Swenson each won their singles matches by 6-0, 6-0 scores.

Against Trinity, Thirkell and Kelsey Smith won their team-leading 10th doubles match by posting an 8-6 victory in the No. 2 contest.

Thirkell and Swenson kept their individual winning streaks intact with victories at No. 3 and 4 singles, respectively.

Swenson extended her streak to 14 consecutive wins with a 6-1, 6-1, while Thirkell made it six in a row with a 6-2, 6-2 win.

Colorado College will play Southwestern University on Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
