The Colorado College women's tennis team improved to 2-1 at the 2009 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament with a 7-2 victory over Southwestern University on Saturday afternoon.
Britt Swenson played No. 1 singles for the first time this season and responded with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Kelly Finn. Swenson extended her winning streak to 15 matches and has not lost in singles since the opening match of the season at Air Force.
Swenson and Jordan Evans combined for an 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles, giving CC's top doubles squad a 2-1 record at the conference championships.
Evans earned her second point of the day with a 6-4, 6-1 triumph at No. 4 singles.
The Tigers also got two points from Sally Bryant, who came from behind to post a 4-6, 7-5, 10-8 victory at No. 5 singles after she and Erin Yamamoto teamed up for an 8-6 win at No. 3 doubles.
Deanna Thirkell extended her winning streak to seven matches by defeating Jessica Gaines 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.
The seventh-seeded Tigers will face fifth-seeded Centre College in the fifth-sixth place match at 11:30 a.m. at the Burn Park Tennis Center in North Little Rock.
