Thomas Modern and Zach White posted an 8-3 victory at No. 3 doubles, but the Tigers dropped a 7-0 decision at Air Force on Saturday afternoon.
Since the match was played with Division I rules, only one point is awarded to the team that wins two or more of the doubles matches. Therefore, the win by Modern and White is not reflected in the final score.
Despite losing the six singles matches in straight sets, CC did give a good account of itself and will be able to use the experience of playing the Falcons to use when it begins playing Division III opponents.
“While the scores are convincingly in favor of Air Force, I felt that we were not greatly overmatched and were we to meet later in the season, we would be able to hang in for a much closer match,” head coach Naren Clark said. “If nothing else it was a great opportunity to see where we stand and the areas we need to work on moving forward into the season.”
Colorado College slipped to 2-1 overall, with all three matches being played against upper Division opponents.
The Tigers are idle until March 11 when they play at Cal Tech in the first of five matches in Southern California over spring break.
