Geoff Bennett, who has guided the Colorado College women's soccer team to a Conference USA playoff berth in five of its six years as an affiliate member of the league, will continue to coach the Tigers at least through the 2017 season.

CC has signed Bennett to a six-year contract extension, effective until June 2018, director of athletics Ken Ralph announced today.  

“We are thrilled that Geoff has agreed to remain as women's soccer coach at Colorado College,” said Ralph. “Under his guidance the women's soccer program has enjoyed significant levels of success both on the field and in the classroom. With this contract we also wanted to send out a strong statement that women's soccer is very important to Colorado College and we are willing to make the investment in our coaching staff to be able to compete at the highest levels.”

The Tigers are 9-6-3 overall and 7-2-1 in conference play this fall heading into Friday's regular-season finale at UTEP. They've already clinched the No. 2 seed at next week's C-USA post-season tournament in Memphis.

“I would first like to thank Ken Ralph and our president, Jill Tiefenthaler, for believing in our direction and vision of Colorado College women's soccer,” Bennett said. “It's tremendous for us as a program and me personally to have such great administrative support. My staff and I couldn't ask for a better working environment than we have here at Colorado College. My family and I love this institution and we completely believe in everything it stands for. I couldn't be more pleased to coach and work with these outstanding student-athletes."

Bennett, the seventh head coach in more than three decades of women's soccer at CC, is 83-51-20 (.604) during his eight years overall at the helm. He took his team to the NCAA playoffs in 2006.

“The extension is nice from a personal standpoint but more importantly from a program standpoint,” he said. “This will help tremendously with recruiting, as it will let every potential student-athlete understand that Colorado College is extremely serious about women's soccer. It's always great to have stability within a program, as that stability can only lead to great things in the future."
