Kevin Dorff won the 50-yard freestyle and swam a leg on a pair of winning relay teams as Colorado College defeated Metro State College, 163-47, on Saturday afternoon at CC's Schlessman Natatorium.
The Big Cats won 12 of 13 events and recorded four season-best times during the convincing victory.
Seven different swimmers recorded at least one individual victory, including freshman
Matt Nadel who demonstrated his speed and stamina by taking both the 200 (1:51.25) and 1,650 free (17:55.85).
Freshman sensation
Austin Howlett took first in both diving events. His season-best six-dive score of 336.68 on the 3-meter board was only 21.07 off the school record set by Rod Townley in 1971. Howlett won the 1-meter event with a total of 286.57.
Senior
Jordan DeGayner cut 2.99 seconds of senior
Devin Wahl's team-best effort in the 100 free, clocking in at 46.40. That effort was just .81 seconds off his school record set last year at the NCAA Division III Championships.
Freshman
Chris Garrity lowered his own top time in the 100 backstroke (56.41), while junior
Tyler Larrabee's winning effort of 1:02.41 in the 100 breaststroke trimmed 0.52 seconds off his team best effort in that event.
CC's other individual winners were sophomore
Kaleb Roush in the 400 individual medley (4:33.67) and sophomore
Michael Bennett in the 100 butterfly (53.76).
The Tigers opened the meet by winning the 200 medley relay in 1:46.44, and closed out the day by taking the 200 free relay in 1:29.89.
