Brady Ohlsen broke the Colorado College record for career rebounds during his final home game as the Tigers rolled to a 74-56 victory over Millsaps College in Sunday's regular season finale at Reid Gymnasium.
It took Ohlsen just under eight minutes to collect his third rebound and surpass Elliott Broadnax's total of 739. The senior from Longmont, Colo., finished the game with a team-high seven rebounds and pushed his career total to 744. Ohlsen made both of his shots from the floor and had had a game-high five assists.
While many in the crowd came to acknowledge the accomplishments of CC's four seniors, by the end of the first half they were in awe of the freshmen. The newcomers made 10 of 16 field-goal attempts and combined for 29 of the Tigers' 40 points.
Jake Tramutolo knocked down five consecutive three-point attempts in a span of 7:07 to help the Tigers build a 23-point lead after 20 minutes. Tramutolo finished with a season-high 15 points and tied his season high with three assists.
Tramutolo took advantage of the defensive attention given to Nick Rose, who had to leave the game during each half while bleeding after hard fouls. Rose scored 13 points to eclipse the 500-point mark for the second consecutive season.
Colorado College led 54-25 after Corey Dyer made a free throw with 13:59 remaining in the game, but Tim White scored five of his seven points during a 10-0 run that saw the Majors pull to within 19 points on a three-point basket by Jeff Brown.
Millsaps' momentum stopped when CC's starters returned and the lead was restored to 25 points when Jeff Smith drained a three pointer from the right wing with 3:02 to go.
Freshman Ryan Milne scored 11 points and dished out a pair of assists to go over the 100-assist mark for the season.
Senior Austin Perkins made his first appearance of the season and recorded three points, a rebound and a steal.
The Majors' Nick Cortese led all scorers with 21 points.
Colorado College improved to 14-11 overall and 10-6 in the SCAC. The Tigers play Oglethorpe University in the first round of the conference tournament in Jackson, Miss., at 8 p.m. CT on Friday.
