If you asked anyone on the team about their expectations on the eve of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tennis Championships, no one would have said they hope to finish seventh.
But Colorado College saved its best for last, posting an impressive 7-2 win over sixth-seeded Austin College to avenge a loss to the Kangaroos from earlier in the season.
The Tigers claimed all three doubles points for just the fifth time this season and prevailed in four of the six individual matches. The two points CC lost were in upper tie-breakers after Katie Patterson and Caila Criss extended their matches by winning the second set.
Jordan Evans posted a convincing 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 2 singles to finish the championships with a 2-2 record. That victory gave Evans, one of only two seniors on the roster, the team's top individual record at 13-5.
Not to be outdone, Deanna Thirkell won by the same score at No. 1 singles to complete the season with a 10-8 mark.
Tori Marsh prevailed by a 6-2, 6-0 count at No. 5 singles, while Erin Yamamoto won her collegiate finale 6-2, 6-2.
Colorado College finished the season with a 12-7 overall record.
