Ellie Cole set a career high with seven points and senior attacker
Leslie Jacoby struck for three goals as Colorado College remained undefeated on the road with a 12-5 victory at Adams State College on Saturday afternoon at the ASC Lacrosse & Soccer Field.
Cole put the Tigers on the board with an unassisted tally 5:29 into the contest, but the Grizzlies tied the score 1:22 later when sophomore midfielder Amanda Hisel scored a man-up goal. ASC, however, would have to wait more than 31 minutes before scoring again.
During that time, Cole and Jacoby combined for five goals to fuel a 7-0 run that gave CC an 8-1 lead early in the second half.
Jacoby put the Tigers ahead to stay when she scored for the first time 9:07 into the contest. Her tally 1:31 into the second half proved to be her second game winner of the season and the fourth of her career.
Hisel made the score 8-2 with her second goal 8:14 into the second half, but CC answered with a pair of scoring strikes and took its biggest lead of the contest when Jacoby converted off precision passes from Cole and senior midfielder
Grace Maloney with 17:03 to play.
Cole scored four goals on six shots and tied her single-game high with three assists.
Maloney, who leads Colorado College in scoring, finished with a goal and four assists. She also recorded a game-high five draw controls, a pair of caused turnovers and grabbed two ground balls which gave her 101 for her career.
Junior goaltender
Abby Fink finished with four saves for CC, which recorded a 33-22 advantage in total shots.
Sophomore midfielder LiErin Wilson added a pair of markers during the final 16:32 as the Grizzlies trimmed their final deficit to seven by scoring three of the last five goals.
Freshman goalie Danica Kristiansen stopped 12 of the 24 shots she faced.
The Tigers were credited with a season-high 16 caused turnovers and held an opponent to five goals or less for the sixth time in 11 games. CC improved to 3-0 on the road where it has outscored its opponents by a combined margin of 42-7.
Sophomore defender
Krysti Kiesel had three draw controls, caused a pair of turnovers and grabbed a ground ball for Colorado College. Junior defender
Nancy Makuch had three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
The Tigers, who lead the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference with a 4-0 record, improved to 9-2 overall. The Grizzlies, who compete in the Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association, fell to 0-6.
Colorado College plays back-to-back non-conference games next Saturday and Sunday in Durango, Colo., against Colorado Mesa University and Fort Lewis College, respectively.
