CC stumbles at Austin

Box Score Cold shooting and foul trouble proved too much to overcome as Colorado College dropped a 72-61 at Austin College on Sunday afternoon.

The Tigers slipped into a tie for second place in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference with the University of Dallas with a 6-2 record, a half-game behind Trinity University. CC is now 9-8 overall.

The Kangaroos, who improved to 4-15 overall and 1-8 in conference play, got a measure of revenge for its back-to-back losses in Colorado Springs during the opening weekend of SCAC play.

Junior guard Ryan Milne paced the Tigers with a game-high 22 points and five assists.

Sophomore forward Chris Lesnansky added 14 points before fouling out with 6:11 to play. With three rebounds, he moved up to 39th place on the program's career list with 268.

Freshman forward Tyler Jonas came off the bench to grab a team-high six rebounds.

With Colorado College's starting front line in foul trouble, AC shot 55.3-percent from the floor.

Jordan Hancock scored 14 of his team-high 17 points in the first half. Andre Bryant made all six of field-goal attempts and finished with 15 points.

Despite shooting just 36-percent from the field, CC trailed just 43-39 after Lesnansky sank a pair of free throws with 13:06 remaining. Austin countered with seven straight points and the Tigers were unable to get closer than eight points the rest of the way.  

Colorado College, which recorded a 4-2 record during six consecutive conference games on the road, plays its next five SCAC tilts at home, beginning Friday when Southwestern University visits Reid Arena.
