Box Score Sophomore midfielder
Madeline Pitkin and senior attacker
Ellie Cole combined for seven goals, but Colorado College dropped a 14-10 decision to Adrian College on Friday afternoon in a game played at the University of Michigan's Oosterbaan Field House.
Pitkin gave the Tigers an early 1-0 lead when she scored the first of her four goals 2:22 into the contest and she tied the game at 2-2 a little more than minutes later.
But after Cole knotted the score at 3-3 with 18:15 remaining in the first half, the Bulldogs answered with four consecutive markers to take a lead they would not surrender.
CC pulled to within three goals on three different occasions, the last of which came with 19:03 to play on a tally by Pitkin that cut the Tigers' deficit to 10-7. Adrian answered with three goals to extend its lead to six for the first time.
After senior attacker Olivia Duncan scored the last of her game-high five goals with exactly nine minutes to play, junior midfielder
Elise Burchard and Pitkin found the cage in a span of 51 seconds to get Colorado College to within four goals.
The defenses took over at that point and neither team was able to score during the final 7:10.
The Tigers finished with a 27-24 edge in total shots, but freshman goaltender Maddie McDonald made 14 saves for the Bulldogs.
Senior
Abby Fink stopped seven shots for CC.
Adrian, which improved to 2-0, finished with a 21-15 advantage in ground balls and a 14-9 edge in draw controls.
Colorado College continues its run of four consecutive road games on Sunday when the Tigers visit Denison University in Granville, Ohio.
