Winner of only a third of their doubles matches in the last month, the Colorado College women clicked into a different gear on Saturday.

The Tigers used a clean sweep in doubles to propel themselves to an impressive 6-3 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over Southwestern University at CC's Burghart Courts.

It was the first time that all three of the team's pairs have prevailed since March 15, during an 8-1 pounding of Wisconsin Lutheran University in Orlando, Fla. And, once the No. 2 duo of Maddy Bush and Maggie Harwood followed up with straight-set triumphs at No. 3 and 5 singles, respectively, there was no comeback in sight for the visitiing Pirates.

Bush's volley into the feet of SWU's Virgina Stofer provided match point as she and Harwood made short work of Stofer and Gabby Hunt, 8-3, under a low cloud cover in the chilly morning's first match to be completed. Then with the sun starting to break through as noon approached, Bush dropped only one game while disposing of Sarah Johnson by a 6-0, 6-1 count in a quick singles match. Harwood finished off Elizabeth Ellis 6-1, 6-3 a few minutes later to give Colorado College its fifth win of the day and lift the Tigers to 4-6 overall for the season.

CC's Mary Edman, who combined with Katie Patterson to post an 8-5 victory in No. 1 doubles, also out-battled Southwestern ace Aimee Blake in a long, tough contest at No. 1 singles. The score was 7-5, 3-6, 6-4.

The pivotal doubles match came at No. 3, where Caroline Cary and Caila Criss rallied for a 9-7 victory that ended with freshman Criss drilling a perfectly placed shot down the line.

The Tigers play their final home match of the season on Sunday, taking on NCAA Division II opponent Hastings College at 9 a.m. MT.
