CC women keep streak alive

Tigers edge Texas Lutheran, 5-4, for fourth consecutive victory

The Colorado College women appear as ready as they ever will be for post-season competition.

Playing their final match before the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference championships, the Tigers recorded their four consecutive victory with a gutsy 5-4 triumph on Saturday over host Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, Texas.

CC, which returns to the Lone Star State in a quest for its first league title next week in San Antonio, improved to 7-6 overall for the 2012-13 campaign by prevailing for the seventh time in 10 matches since an 0-3 start.

An 8-0 victory at No. 2 doubles by junior Maddy Bush and sophomore Maggie Harwood, who also won their No. 3 and 4 singles matches in straight sets, proved to be the difference.

Texas Lutheran the second-place team in the West Division of the American Southwest Conference, dropped to 7-10 overall.

Closest battle of the day came at No. 3 doubles, where TLU's Alicia Abell and Katherine Hermann outliasted Caila Criss and Rachel Severson by a score of 9-8 with a 12-10 tiebreaker.
