Tigers rally to top Dallas in SCAC opener

Box Score The University of Dallas scored the first 13 points of the game, but Colorado College stormed back to post a 78-66 victory in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference opener for both teams on Saturday afternoon at UD's Maher Athletic Center.

Ryan Milne scored 16 of his game-high 26 points in the first half, when he gave the Tigers their first lead at 27-26 with 3:47 remaining before the break.

The Crusaders led 46-44 when Ross Davidson, their 6-foot-7 center, stepped outside to knock down a 3-pointer with 13:09 to go, but CC took control with a 23-6 run that included points from seven different players.

Milne, who surpassed the 20-point mark for the fourth game in a row and the sixth time this season, became the ninth Tiger to score 1,300 or more career points. The junior guard tied his season high with five 3-point buckets and climbed into sixth place on the program's all-time list with 181.

Daniel Webb scored a season-high 15 points, which was only one off of his career best of 16 set during last season's 71-66 triumph over UD at home on Feb. 2. The senior forward recorded 11 points in the second half when he made five of six shots from the floor.

Junior forward Chris Lesnansky finished with 12 points, while junior forward Russell Clark tied his career-high with 10 to give Colorado College four players in double figures.

As a team, CC shot a fraction better than 58-percent from the floor in the second half, which included a 5-for-10 performance from behind the arc.

Webb tied his career high with eight rebounds and Mine dished out six assists to help CC improve to 7-2 overall.

Junior forward Aaron Wyatt led Dallas with 17 points, six of which were scored during the opening five minutes.

Senior guard Nate Wilson and Davidson added 10 points apiece for the Crusaders, who dropped to 5-5 overall.

The Tigers won their fifth consecutive SCAC opener and prevailed in their first league road contest for the fourth time in five seasons.

Colorado College plays at home for the first time since Dec. 4 when Austin College and Centenary College visit Reid Arena for league games next Friday and Sunday, respectively.
