Tigers Run Out of Time Against St. Olaf

Box Score Colorado College cut a 13-point deficit to four with 1:33 to play, but St. Olaf College sank five of six free throws during the final 66 seconds and held on for a 58-53 victory on Wednesday night at CC's Reid Arena.

After the Oles took a 37-24 lead on a layup by senior forward Sheridan Blanford with 17:31 to play, the Tigers used a 13-4 run to pull to within four points for the first time.

Despite falling behind by as many as eight points during the final eight minutes, Colorado College cut its deficit to 53-49 on a pair of free throws by sophomore forward Korbyn Ukasick.

Unfortunately, that was as close as the Tigers would get.

Ukasick led CC with a game-high 18 points, while junior forward Danielle Davis added 13. Both players grabbed seven rebounds.

Senior guard Courtney Tyus and freshman guard Malia Shappell finished with nine points apiece for Colorado College, which slipped to 0-5.

Junior guard Afton Wolter connected on four of nine three-point attempts and led St. Olaf with 16 points.

Blanford, who made all four of her free throws during the final 1:06, finished with 12 points.

The Tigers return to action this weekend when they play host to the 2014 Colorado College Thanksgiving Invitational. CC begins the tournament against Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on Friday at 3 p.m.
