Tigers fall to Trinity in SCAC semifinal

Box Score Trinity University made the most of its home-court advantage and advanced to the championship game of the 2014 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament with a 64-48 victory over Colorado College.

After back-to-back three-pointers by senior guards Ryan Milne and Jake Tramutolo gave CC a 16-12 lead midway through the first half, Trinity went on a 23-4 run during the final eight minutes and took a 15-point advantage into the intermission.

The fourth-seeded Tigers fought back to within 10 points when Milne connected from long distance for the second time 49 seconds into the second half, but TU regained the momentum with an 8-1 surge and Colorado College was unable to get closer than 13 the rest of the game.

In the final game of his outstanding career, Milne recorded team-highs of 17 points, four assists and four steals. He also grabbed six rebounds.

The senior guard set personal single-season highs with 480 points and 49 steals, which put him in fifth place on the program's all-time list in both statistical categories.

Despite being called for three fouls during the first half, Chris Lesnansky finished with 10 points and a team-leading seven boards. The junior forward tied his personal single-season best with 408 points and became the 16th player in school history to record 1,100 or more. He also became the 30th member of CC's 100-assist club.

Lesnansky joined Milne as the sixth and seventh Tigers to score 400 or more points in a season more than once. Verdel Baskin (1995-99) and Jay Longino (1992-96) accomplished the feat three times, while Jason Valant (1989-93), Michael Reich (2001-05) and Nick Rose (2007-11) did it twice.

Tramutolo hit three of four shots from behind the arc and scored nine points for Colorado College, which finished the season with a 17-8 record.

Trinity's Zach Lambert went 4-for-4 from three-point range en route to a game-high 19 points. Robert Kitzinger finished with 12 points and a game-high eight rebounds.
