Colorado College took advantage of some occasional sun on Wednesday to claim the second victory of its spring-break Florida tour.
After a 90-minute rain delay and another hour spent clearing the courts at the Lake Cane Tennis Center in Orlando, the Tigers swept their doubles matches and pulled out a 6-3 triumph over Bethel University of St. Paul, Minn.
Senior
Caila Criss, who teamed up with
Katie Patterson to win 8-3 at No. 2 doubles, clinched the match for CC with a hard-fought 7-6(5), 6-4 victory in her No. 4 singles contest before junior
Maggie Harwood prevailed 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 to cap things off.
"It's difficult to get off to a strong start after waiting around for two and a half hours, but the girls did a terrific job of getting out in front with doubles," said head coach
Anthony Weber. "Caila clinched the match, and Maggie had a gutsy performance to pull out a big win."
