Frederiksen gets first shutout in 0-0 draw

Box Score Freshman goaltender Rowan Frederiksen stopped all 11 shots that she faced to record her first career shutout, but Colorado College met the same fate at the other end of the pitch and settled for a hard-fought 0-0 draw on Saturday night at Colgate University.

It marked the first time the Tigers played to a scoreless tie since Oct. 20, 2013, at the University of Texas-San Antonio.

Neither team put a shot on target until Brenna Mason stopped Colorado College's Jessie Ayers with 12:33 remaining in the first half.

The Tigers had another scoring opportunity just 2:04 later, but senior forward Rachel Herron bent a corner kick off the near post.

It took the Raiders even longer, 36:48 in fact, to test Frederiksen.

Colgate's best scoring chance occurred with 14:46 remaining in the second half when with Eliza Doll hit the post from the top of the box.

The Raiders finished with a 19-16 edge in total shots and a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.

The CC defense has now played 197:08 since allowing the second goal during the 3-2 victory over then-No. 25 Denver.

The Tigers return home next week for the 2014 Colorado College Invitational. CC plays Weber State University on Friday, Sept. 5, and Marquette University on Sunday.
