Box Score Colorado College slipped into a tie for first place atop the Mountain West standings after dropping a 1-0 decision to Fresno State on an otherwise perfect fall afternoon at Stewart Field.
Sophomore forward Myra Delgadillo scored the only goal of the contest in the 33rd minute with a low shot inside the near post after taking a through ball from Peyton Cline on the left side of the box.
That was the only shot the eluded sophomore goalkeeper
Louisa Mackenzie, who stopped the other four shots the Bulldogs put on target.
Mackenzie's best save came just 28 seconds earlier when she made a diving stop on Cline's crossing shot from the right side that was headed for the upper left corner.
Unfortunately, the Tigers were unable to penetrate the Bulldog defense.
CC's best scoring opportunity occurred early in the 18th minute when a header by senior midfielder
Sarah Schweiss from the center of the box went inches wide of the left post.
Schweiss came close again near the end of the 38th minute, but her header that got behind goalkeeper Marie Berwinkel-Kottman was cleared away by senior forward Fanny Johansson.
With just inside 10 minutes to go, Schweiss came free on the right side and the Fresno State defense collapsed toward her. She slipped set a pass into the center of the box, but Berwinkel-Kottman was in perfect position to stop a shot by Colorado College sophomore forward
Maddi Dunn.
The first-year keeper made three saves en route to her first clean sheet of the season.
The Bulldogs finished with a 15-10 advantage in total shots while each team earned four corner kicks.
The Tigers slipped to 6-7-1 overall and 4-1-0 in the MW. Fresno State improved to 3-8-1 overall and 2-1-2 in league play.
A share of first place atop the conference standings will be on the line when Colorado College plays host to San Jose State University on Sunday.
