Box Score Colorado College gave top-seeded San Diego State University all it could handle and then some on Thursday night, but being down a player for the final 25 minutes proved too much to overcome as the Tigers dropped a 2-0 decision to the Aztecs in the second semifinal match of the 2015 Mountain West Championship.
SDSU, which generated just one shot on goal during the first 65 minutes, caught the break it desperately needed when CC's
Anne-Sophie Lapointe was booked for the second time with 25:07 to play.
A little less than five minutes after the sophomore defender was sent off, the soccer gods smiled on the Aztecs for the second time when junior defender Zsuria Phare's crossing pass toward Morgan Darling missed her intended target only to find the net inches inside the far post.
The Tigers continued to push forward and generated several scoring chances during the next few minutes and were still in the game until sophomore forward Dani DeRosa scored on a set piece with 5:21 to play.
Colorado College withstood early pressure from San Diego State in the first 10 minutes of the game, but then began to establish possession and generate some scoring opportunities.

Clara Richter had CC's first chance, but her shot from the top left edge of the box was blocked.
Less than a minute later, senior midfielder
Sarah Schweiss sent a header from the left side past the far post.
Freshman midfielder
Kelli Sullivan recorded the game's first shot on goal early in the 28th minute with a blast from the top of the box that was scooped up by senior keeper Melanie Vaughn near the right post.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Louisa Mackenzie made four saves for the Tigers, including a leaping grab on a shot by Milan Moses
Colorado College completed the season with a 9-12-1 overall record and finished fifth in the Mountain West with a 6-5-0 mark.
Vaughn stopped a pair of shots for the Aztecs, who improved to 15-4-0 and will clash with San Jose State University in Saturday night's championship game. The Spartans ousted the University of New Mexico on penalty kicks in Thursday's first semifinal.
