The Colorado College women's tennis team evened its record at 5-5 this season with a dominating 8-1 victory over Hastings College Friday afternoon at Burghart Courts. The Tigers swept all three doubles matches, then won five of the six singles matches, all in straight sets.
 
CC jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after the doubles matches, including an 8-3 win by senior Mary Edman and freshman Fiona Cerf over Maddi Shelton and Liz Harlow at the No. 1 spot. Edman and Cerf won for the seventh time in their last eight matches and are 8-2 at the No. 1 position this season. Senior Maggie Harwood and sophomore Maddie Cahill-Sanidas followed suit with an 8-5 victory at the No. 2 spot over Madison Fortunato and Bre Obermier, while sophomore Gillian Hyde and freshman Natalia Dellavalle won the No. 3 match, 8-4, over Bailey Christy and Molly Mitchell.
 
In singles play, Cerf (No. 1) and Dellavalle (No. 3) each won her match 6-1, 6-1, while Edman (No. 2) and Hyde (No. 6) each won 6-0, 6-2. Cahill-Sanidas won the No. 5 match, 6-2, 7-5. Harwood suffered CC's only loss, a hard-fought 2-6, 6-0, 1-0(9) decision to Christy at the No. 4 position.
 
"This was one of the few matches this year that we are a heavy favorite," CC head coach Anthony Weber said. "It is a different mental challenge to hit your shots, stay confident and learn how to finish a match. We definitely learned some lessons that will serve us well the rest of the season."
 
The Tigers host Holy Names University on Saturday, March 28 at the Burghart Courts on the CC campus. The match is scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m.
