After a great run to the finals of the 2015 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships, the Colorado College women's tennis team's season came to a close Sunday with a 5-1 loss to Trinity University in the championship match.
 
Trinity, ranked 31
st in the country, took a commanding 3-0 lead by sweeping the doubles matches. Senior 
Mary Edman and sophomore 
Fiona Cerf lost the No. 1 match, 8-0, to Marie Lutz and Liza Southwick. Edman and Cerf provided a stellar season, posting a 14-4 record at the top spot.
 
Senior 
Maggie Harwood and sophomore 
Maddie Cahill-Sanidas dropped the No. 2 match to Gabrielle Roe and Caroline White, 8-2, while freshmen 
Natalia Dellavalle and 
Anna Smith fell to Cheyenne Duncan and Blaire Porter, 8-1, at the No. 3 position.
 
In singles, Dellavalle recorded CC's lone point when White was forced to retire with an injury with Dellavalle ahead 4-1 in the first set. Roe gave Trinity its fourth point of the match with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Harwood at the No. 4 spot and Southwick clinched the title with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Edman at No. 2. The other matches were halted at that point.
 
"Our schedule definitely helped prepare for this match as we've played stronger teams during the year," CC head coach 
Anthony Weber said. "We've taken big steps and are already excited for next year."
CC finished the season with a 9-9 record, the most wins in a season since the 2011-12 campaign.
