Senior defenseman
Peter Stoykewych was named the recipient of three major team awards, including the Thayer Tutt award as the 2014-15 Most Valuable Player, at the Colorado College hockey team banquet Sunday night at the Colorado Springs Marriott Hotel.
The annual event celebrated the 2014-15 campaign, the first under head coach
Mike Haviland.
Stoykewych, the team captain, scored a career-high three goals and finished eighth in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) with 69 blocked shots this season. He also was named winner of the Steve Ebert Award for his combination of dedication, desire, ability and sportsmanship as well as the
Scott Winkler Award praising his humility, optimism and support. Ebert, a 1996 graduate, was killed in an Army Air Training plane crash in 1970 while Winkler passed away unexpectedly in June of 2013 after completing his senior season.
Junior forward
Cody Bradley took home the M.B. Hopper Award as the team's leading scorer after recording 30 points (10g,20a) during the season. Fellow junior
Jared Hanson earned the Paul Markovich Award, recognizing the program's top student-athlete, while sophomore defenseman
Jaccob Slavin, a first-team all-NCHC selection this season, won the Rodman Award presented each year to the player demonstrating the highest degree of sportsmanship. The award was founded in 1980 by Dr. Hugh Rodman and his wife, Crete.
Other award winners included defenseman
Teemu Kivihalme, who won the Bob Johnson Award as Freshman of the Year, and senior forward
Scott Wamsganz and sophomore forward
Zach Aman, who shared the Dave Peterson Award as the team's most improved player. Wamsganz accepted the award for the second consecutive year.
Jim Mason, a long-time Colorado College fan, was recognized as the winner of the Joni Brandner Memorial Award. That award, initiated in 2001, is presented annually to individuals who have given their heart and soul through dedication to Tiger Hockey.
