Box Score Jontrell Herman scored 22 of his 27 points in the second half and overtime as Johnson & Wales escaped Reid Arena Tuesday night with a come from behind 93-91 victory over Colorado College.

Herman, who scored seven of his team's 16 points in overtime, extended the game at the end of regulation with a three-pointer at the buzzer after CC's
Eric Houska made two free throws with 2.9 seconds left to give CC a 77-74 lead.

The Tigers (1-6) squandered a pair of four-point leads in overtime and Johnson & Wales went 9-of-10 from the free throw line. Herman scored seven in the extra frame, including a three-pointer for an 88-87 lead with 1:37 remaining and two free throws with 14 seconds left to give the Wildcats a 93-89 lead. Andrew Romero, who led all scorers with 30 points, had four points in overtime for Johnson & Wales.

The Tigers looked like they had things in control late in regulation when
Sean Stem collected an offensive rebound and scored for a 73-68 lead with 2:20 to play, but they didn't score for nearly two minutes after that and the Wildcats (7-7) took advantage as King Grant-Perry scored with 2:00 left and Herman made two layups, the final one with 45 seconds left to take their first lead at 74-73.

Chris Martin put CC back up by one, 75-74, with 23 seconds left and Herman had to foul Houska after missing a jumper with six seconds remaining.

Colorado College jumped out to a big lead early when
John Hatch stole the ball at midcourt and put down a thunderous dunk to put the Tigers ahead 17-2 with 14:38 remaining in the first half.

A three-point play by
Gabe Chavez with 10:27 left in the half gave the Tigers their biggest lead at 27-6 and another Hatch dunk after a baseline drive made it 34-15 with just over six minutes left in the half.

Romero responded with eight straight points in the next minute on a pair of three-pointers and a layup to cut the lead to 34-23 and a layup at the buzzer by Aaron Stone cut the CC lead to 43-34 at the break, the first time the Wildcats were within single digits since trailing 9-2.

The Tigers shot 47.2 percent (17-36) from the field and were 5-of-12 from three-point range in the first half, but only connected on 2-of-11 from long distance the rest of the way.

The Wildcats took it to the Tigers on the offensive end early in the second half and trimmed the lead to 56-55 on a three-pointer by Herman, but Martin sparked a 9-0 Tiger run with five points to push the lead back to double figures at 65-55 with seven minutes left in the second half.

Hatch led the Tigers with 24 points, while Houska posted a double-double with 17 points and 10 assists. Martin and
Edmund Pendleton added 15 and 10 points, respectively.
Ryan Young had a game- and career-high 13 rebounds for CC.

Stone recorded a double-double of his own for Johnson & Wales with 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Romero added eight rebounds and eight assists.

The Tigers return to action on Friday, Dec. 16 as they open SCAC action against the University of Dallas at Reid arena beginning at 7:30 p.m.
