The third-seeded Colorado College women's tennis team wrapped up its 2015-16 season Sunday by winning the third-place match, 5-0, over No. 5-seed Schreiner University at the 2016 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships in Kerrville, Texas.
Â
The Tigers (13-9) won all three doubles matches, including an 8-5 victory by sophomore
Fiona Cerf and freshman
Kendal McGinnis over Camila Anguiano and Kara Miller at the No. 1 position.
Â
In singles, Cerf (No. 1) and freshman
Annie Zlevor (No. 5) each won her singles match in straight sets to end the match. Â Â Â Â
Â
"We got off to a slow start in doubles, but pulled it together to go up 3-0 today," head coach
Anthony Weber said. "I think the tough semifinal last night and a morning start today caught up to us a bit. This was one of the most successful teams we have had in recent history. We won the matches we were supposed to and surprised in some of the matches we were underdogs. It is a very positive sign with such a young group."
Following the tournament, Cerf and sophomore
Natalia Dellavalle were named to the all-tournament team for singles, while Cerf and McGinnis were selected as a doubles team.
