The Colorado College women's tennis team blanked Texas Lutheran, 5-0, Friday in the quarterfinals of the 2017 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tennis Championships in San Antonio, Texas.

The third-seeded Tigers were dominant from the start, handily winning all three doubles matches. Freshmen
Jenna McDonald and
Caroline James started things off with an 8-4 victory over Macy Elliott and Madison Dyer at the No. 1 position. Sophomores
Annie Zlevor and
Simone Hall followed suit with an 8-0 triumph at the No. 2 spot, while senior
Maddie Cahill-Sanidas and sophomore
Madison Doerre won the No. 3 match, 8-2.

Colorado College clinched the team match with a pair of straight-set victories in singles. James won the No. 2 match, 6-2, 6-1, over Dyer at the No. 2 position, while Doerre defeated Brooke Taylor, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 3. The Nos. 1 and 4 matches were pulled off the court at that time.

"It is always good to get that 3-0 lead out of doubles," head coach
Anthony Weber said. "In singles, Caroline and Madi (Doerre) played the same TLU girls as last week, and carried over some of the lessons learned from those matches to pull us through. We are definitely looking forward to playing a tough Southwestern team tomorrow."

Colorado College (9-11) will battle second-seed Southwestern University on Saturday, April 29, beginning at 9 a.m. (CT).
