The Colorado College women's tennis team dropped a 5-0 decision to Southwestern University Friday in the semifinals of the 2017 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tennis Championships in San Antonio, Texas.

The second-seeded Pirates were dominant from the start and swept all three doubles matches. Mary Cardone and Anna Schneemann downed freshmen
Jenna McDonald and
Caroline James, 8-1, at the No. 1 position. Megan Hawkins and Julie Swets defeated sophomores
Annie Zlevor and
Simone Hall, 8-5, at the No. 2 spot, while Nicole Wilson and Maranda Kahl beat senior
Maddie Cahill-Sanidas and sophomore
Madison Doerre, 8-6, at No. 3.

Southwestern clinched the team match with a pair of straight-set victories in singles. Cardone handled McDonald, 6-1, 6-0, at the top spot, while Taite Drews-Jones blanked James, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2. Â The other matches were pulled off the court at that time.

Colorado College (9-12) will battle Austin College in the third-place match on Sunday, April 30, beginning at 9 a.m. (CT).
