The Colorado College women's tennis team split a pair of matches Saturday in Pueblo, Colo. The Tigers dropped a 7-2 decision to Texas-Permian Basin, then defeated CSU-Pueblo, 5-1.
 
Junior transfer Allie Burak and sophomore Jenna McDonald won at No. 1 doubles in each match, including an exciting, 9-8 victory over UT-Permian Basin's Eugenia Sanchez and Amelie Saint Dior. The Tiger duo won the tiebreak, 7-4.
 
After taking two of the three doubles matches, UT-Permain Basin won all three singles matches that were extended to three sets. Burak lost 12-10 in the third-set tiebreak at No. 1, while McDonald fell 10-7 at the No. 2 spot. Freshman Liv Clifford dropped an 11-9 tiebreak in the third set at No. 6.
 
Junior Annie Zlevor was the only Tiger to win in singles against UTPB, capturing the No. 5 match, 6-2, 6-3.
 
In the nightcap against the Division II Thunderwolves, the Tigers won two of the three doubles contests, then won the three singles matches to clinch the won. Burak (No. 1), McDonald (No. 2) and Clifford (No. 6) each won her singles match.  
 
The Tigers are idle until the ITA West Regionals held in Claremont, Calif., starting Friday, Sept. 29.
