The Colorado College women's tennis team opened its 2018 spring schedule Thursday night with a 7-2 loss to CalTech in Pasadena, Calif.

Juniors
Allie Burak and
Annie Zlevor each won her singles match on Thursday. Burak defeated Alexandra Bodrova, 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 1 position, while Zlevor downed Vinci Chen, 6-1, 6-4 at the No. 6 spot.

Freshman
Tess Rubin took Caltech's Julia Reisler to a third set before falling, 6-3, 4-6, 1-0(7). The Beavers won the other three singles matches in straight sets after sweeping the doubles contests.

"We had a tough start in doubles tonight," head coach
Anthony Weber said. "We played very inconsistent, but we fought hard in the singles matches."

The Tigers (2-4) play at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Friday, Feb. 16 at 6 p.m. (PT).
