One school record and several top-ten performances were registered by the Colorado College track and field teams Saturday at the Spank Blasing Meet in Pueblo, Colo.

The highlight of the meet for the women's team was the 4x100-meter relay team setting a school record with a time of 50.30 seconds. The foursome of seniors
McKenna Schnack,
Samantha Gilbert and
Asmeda Spalding and freshman
Camille Weaver broke the previous record of 50.36, set by Sascha Scott, Julie Cole, Jaime Clark and Heather O'Brien in 1998.

"It was exciting to see that record broken after 20 years," head coach
Ted Castaneda said. "This group should go even faster later this season as well. They hope to get it under 50 seconds by the conference meet."

In addition to anchoring the school-record relay, Weaver recorded three individual top-ten results on Saturday. She finished third in the triple jump and sixth in the long jump and 100-meter hurdles race. Meanwhile, Gilbert finished sixth in the 200-meter dash and seventh in the 100, while Spalding posted a seventh-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles.

Ayla Loper and sophomore
Liza Huschle on the 4x400 relay team that placed fifth, and Loper finished 10
th in the high jump.

On the men's side, junior
Henry Baldwin led the way with a second-place finish in the high jump with a leap of 6'4.75". Sophomore
Ben Hall followed in third place, equaling his season-best jump of 5'10.75".

Quin Gattey finished sixth in the 400-meter hurdles race with a time of 59.32 seconds, while seniors
Justin Nguyen (400-meter hurdles) and
Sean Fite (200-meter dash), junior
Trevor Hightower (long jump) and freshmen
Damon Hardwick (400-meter dash) and
Peter Chapman (shot put) each finished eighth.

Other individual top-ten results included sophomore
Ian Sanborn (ninth in the 200) and Chapman (10
th in the javelin).

Meanwhile, Nguyen, Gattey, and Hardwick joined freshman
Andrew West to finish third in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:34.41.

Both teams return to action next weekend, April 6-7, at the Colorado Invitational in Boulder, Colo.
