The National Collegiate Hockey Conference announced that 16 Colorado College student-athletes were named to the league's Academic All-Conference Team for outstanding achievement in the classroom.
CC's group of 16 student-athletes tied for the second-most among the eight conference schools. To be eligible for the NCHC Academic All-Conference Team, a student-athlete must compile a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average or better while having completed at least one academic year at his current institution.
Earning a spot on the team this season are seniors
Mason Bergh, Trey Bradley, Andrew Farny, Trevor Gooch, Ben Israel, Cole McCaskill and
Tanner Ockey, juniors
Kristian Blumenschein, Nick Halloran, Cole Josefchak, Alex Leclerc and Alex Pernitsky, and sophomores
Jon Flakne,
McKay Flanagan,
Jack Gates and
Nick Olczyk.
Each of the seven seniors listed were named to the Academic All-Conference Team all four years at CC.
In addition, Bergh, Farny, Flakne, Josefchak and Olczyk were five of 52 student-athletes honored as Distinguished Scholar-Athletes for achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better. Bergh and Farny earned the honor of Distinguished Scholar Athlete/Scholar-Athlete Team all four years.
Freshmen and first-year transfers are not included in this list, but those student-athletes that finish with a 3.0 GPA or better at the end of the 2018-19 school year will be recognized this summer and added to the NCHC Academic All-Conference Team, while those above a 3.5 GPA will also be added to the Scholar-Athlete list.
