The Colorado College tennis teams opened their 2019-20 seasons this weekend at the Metro State University of Denver Invitational.

Nine men and eight women participated in a bracketed tournament that took place on Saturday, Sept. 7 and Sunday, Sept. 8.

On the men's side, senior
Noah Forman was the only Tiger to win his opening match in the "A" bracket, winning by walkover. Forman was then edged in the quarterfinals, 6-1, 4-6, 10-6, by eventual champion Daniel Llorente of Metro State.

Sam Hum and freshman
Billy Taylor each lost his first-round match, but won a consolation match before falling in the consolation semifinals.

In the "B" draw, sophomore
Alex Wimer won the consolation bracket, defeating teammate
Alex Kley, 6-1, 6-3, in the final. Freshman
Nick Bishop was the only Tiger to win his first-round match by downing Justin Ripley of CSU-Pueblo, 6-2, 6-4.

In doubles, Forman and Hum defeated Mitchell Steadman and Cody Carlton of Colorado Mesa, 6-2, in the first round before falling to Alejandro Martinez-Morilla and Billy McDermott of Metro State by the same score in the quarterfinals.

For the women, senior
Jenna McDonald won her first-round match in the "A" bracket, 6-3, 6-1, over Kali Hamilton of CSU-Pueblo, but lost to Metro State's Gala Castello, 6-0, 6-0, in the quarterfinals.

Freshman Lilly Schmactenberger lost her first-round match to Kristen Kirby of Colorado Mesa, 6-1, 6-2, then won a pair of matches before falling to Rebecca Osterberg of Colorado Mesa, 6-2, 6-1, in the consolation final.

In the "B" draw, junior
Tess Rubin dropped her opening match to Mackenzie Hotan of Metro State, 6-2, 2-6, 10-5, then won three straight matches to win the consolation side, including a 6-3, 6-1 win over Colorado Mesa's Lauren Thomas in the final.

In women's doubles, Rubin and freshman
Olivia Dicks advanced to the consolation final, where they fell to Rebecca Osterberg and Maike Waldburger, 7-5.

The Tigers will face Dallas Baptist and Texas-Permian Basin in Pueblo, Colo., next Saturday, Sept. 14.
