Seniors Chris Wilkie and Nick Halloran are among 79 student-athletes nominated for the 2020 Hobey Baker Award, the Hobey Baker Memorial Award Foundation announced on Thursday.
 
The Hobey Baker Award is presented annually to the collegiate hockey player who best demonstrates strength of character both on and off the ice, contributes to the integrity of his team and displays outstanding skills in all phases of the game. Consideration is given for scholastic achievement and sportsmanship. 
 
Colorado College has had two winners since the first Hobey Baker was awarded in 1981, Peter Sejna (2003) and Marty Sertich (2005).
 
Wilkie, from Omaha, Neb., leads the Tigers so far this season with 15 goals and 23 points. He posted the first hat trick of his career in a 7-3 victory over St. Lawrence on Dec. 29 and was named the National and NCHC Player of the Month for December. Wilkie currently leads the nation in goals per game (0.83) and shots per game (5.11).
 
Halloran, from Draper, Utah, is second on the team with 17 points and tied for the team lead with 10 assists. He has four points in his last three games, including a goal and two assists against St. Lawrence.
 
The Hobey Fan Vote will once again be part of Phase I of the selection process for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award, which is given annually to the top player in college hockey. The list of players will be narrowed to a Top-10 and then Phase II voting on the Top-10 will take place March 19-29.
 
The Hobey Hat Trick will be announced on April 2 and the Hobey Baker Memorial Award presented to the winner on April 10, 2020 during the NCAA Frozen Four Championship in Detroit, Mich.
