Colorado College Vice President and Director of Athletics
Lesley Irvine announced today that
Geoff Bennett is stepping down from his position as head women's soccer coach.
"We are appreciative of Geoff's commitment to the women's soccer program and the campus community during his 18 years at Colorado College," Irvine said. "We wish him well in his future endeavors."
During Bennett's tenure at CC, the Tigers posted a 176-123-44 overall record, won a pair of conference regular-season crowns and earned three appearances in the NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Championship.
"Colorado College is a wonderful place and I have enjoyed my 18 years," Bennett said. "I wish the program nothing but success moving forward."
Midway through the 2014 season, Bennett surpassed Dang Pibulvech for first place on the program's career list with 120 victories when the Tigers defeated Colorado State University, 3-2. In 2015, he trained a team made up of current, former and future Tigers that competed as Team USA at the World University Games in Gwangju, South Korea.
The Tigers finished the 2021 campaign with a 5-10-3 overall record and a 4-4-3 mark in the Mountain West, good for a sixth-place tie. Since becoming an affiliate member of the Mountain West in 2014, CC has earned a spot in the league's postseason championship in three of eight seasons, the last time in 2018.
Bennett, a two-time Conference USA Coach of the Year selection, guided the Tigers to the NCAA Tournament in 2006, '12 and '13.
A national search for the Tigers' next head coach will begin immediately.
