Tigers Open Season at CSU-Pueblo

The Colorado College men's track and field team opened its 2021 season at the CSU-Pueblo Early Bird Meet Saturday in Pueblo, Colo.

Senior Michael Gorman posted the team's best result finishing sixth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.55 seconds. Fellow senior Damon Hardwick placed 11th in the race in 51.46 seconds.

Junior Josh Fry, the 2020-21 SCAC cross country champion, posted a pair of eighth-place results. He finished the 800 meters in 1:58.92 and the 1,500-metre run in 4:00.95. Junior Sam Rodriguez placed 11th in the 800 (2:00.02).

Other top 20 results for the Tigers included sophomore Leighton Graham (13th in the discus and 17th in the discus), freshman Luke Bleckman (15th in the long jump) and freshman James Settles (19th in the 5K).

"Today was a great way to start the season," interim head coach Alex Nichols said. "It has been such a long time since these athletes have had the chance set foot at a track meet. That time away created a lot of excitement around this meet and led to some very impressive performances."

The Tigers return to Pueblo next Saturday, March 27, for the CSU-Pueblo Spank Blasing Meet.
